Underwriting and risk analysis
OTIP's underwriting services team can assist you in understanding demographic changes, the impact of inflation
and new therapies, as well as changes in utilization. Our services include a financial experience review, analysis
and evaluation of your annual renewal, as well as investigation of potential alternatives.
Our underwriting services team works closely with your account manager to balance the overall equation of affordability
and comprehensiveness. They are responsible for monitoring both the financial operations of the plan and the benefit
contract. Underwriting services reviews your plan activity continuously during the year, providing a quarterly report
showing how your plan is being used by your members. The annual renewal report expands on the quarterly report by reviewing
and explaining the financial position of the plan and evaluating the renewal projections to ensure that required premiums
are appropriately set.
Funding design
Our funding design review will assist you in understanding benefit plans and the accounting of benefit plan ownership, as
well as provide you with access to information and a full financial evaluation.
Whether your benefit plan is owned and delivered by the employer or the local affiliate/union, OTIP can assist with
regulatory/fiduciary concerns, educating your members, and advising on future design considerations.
Plan design and delivery
Group benefit plans can be customized to include long term disability, life, dependant life, extended health care, dental
care, and much more. Our services include plan design, claims experience, and review of costings to determine how they fit
into available funding (i.e. board/FTE contributions and member contributions). Delivery of the plan is provided for all
lines of benefits through our benefits services and group life and disability claims teams.
An additional benefit for groups insured through OTIP is online access for members to contracts, booklets/plan overviews, plan
design information, claims inquiry tools, and forms through a secure Web site.
