We understand that staying connected, whether with coworkers or senior leaders, is a key element to creating a sense of community at work. Our Great Hall is central to this sense of unity – a modern and comfortable gathering place for lunch and for our regular Town Hall meetings where our leaders share information, updates, successes and goals.
Committees are a unique aspect of how we do things at OTIP. Whether it’s the Healthy Workplace committee, the Health and Safety committee or the Social committee, employees are actively involved in various company-wide initiatives and activities that make OTIP a great place to work.
We also understand that people have lives outside of work, and we do our best to incorporate family-friendly activities into the schedule.
To help foster and maintain such a strong sense of community in the workplace, we encourage our employees to submit suggestions through our Rewarding Ideas program. And, every April, OTIP’s senior leaders take time to recognize all employees for their efforts throughout the year with Employee Appreciation Day.
Employee Health and Well-being
At OTIP, we care about our employees and the people they care about. So it’s no surprise that we put a great deal of time and effort into designing our benefits package. Careful consideration was given to ensure that our package meets the varying needs of all our employees.
Our success in doing so was recognized by Benefits Canada magazine, and we are proud to have been ranked second in the Annual Employees’ Choice: Top 30 Pension and Benefits Plan list.
We have a variety of programs, committees and events that focus on the well-being of our employees at the forefront:
- A wellness consultant visits twice weekly to conduct stretch breaks, fitness sessions and one-on-one meetings.
- All employees are encouraged to have an ergonomic assessment at their workstation, which is provided by the Health and Safety committee.
- Our full-service cafeteria offers healthy choices while six kitchenettes are available for the comfort of those who prefer to bring lunch from home.
We believe that a successful organization has a responsibility to the communities where its members and employees live and work.
OTIP and its members have a long history of community involvement. The OTIP Community Fund, for example, supports charitable programs in the communities where we live and work that contribute to the ongoing success of families and youth, member health, and social improvement.
