Who is eligible
Eligibility for the OECTA OT Benefits Plan is determined by the TCDSB.
If you are eligible, you will receive an email invitation from OTIP in August/September.
How to participate
If you are eligible, you will receive an email invitation from OTIP in August/September. NOTE: You cannot make changes to your coverage after the enrolment period even with a life event (e.g. marriage, common-law, divorce, birth of a child, adoption). Once you complete your enrolment:
Obtaining an eligible LTO at the start or during the school year
If you obtain an eligible LTO position/contract, you will receive an email to enrol for coverage under the OECTA Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT) Benefits Plan.

Enrolment
If you obtained a 1.0 LTO between September 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021
You do not need to complete your enrolment in the OT plan. You will receive an enrolment email for the ELHT plan. Be sure to complete this enrolment as per the date indicated in the enrolment email. When your LTO ends, you will receive an email to enrol in the OT plan.
If you obtained a 1.0 LTO on or after October 1, 2021
You must complete your enrolment in the OT plan within 31 days of receiving your enrolment email. When your LTO starts, you will receive a separate enrolment email for the ELHT plan. Be sure to complete this enrolment as per the date indicated in the enrolment email. Your OT plan will be put on hold until your LTO ends. When your LTO ends, you will be put back into the OT plan automatically. You will have the same level of coverage that you selected at enrolment.
If your LTO is less than 1.0
You must complete your enrolment in the OT plan within 31 days of receiving your enrolment email. NOTE: For an LTO that is less than 1.0, staying in the OT plan is a less expensive option for you as there is no cost. If you enrol in the ELHT plan, you will pay a portion of your benefits cost as funding is pro-rated. We will keep you covered under the OT plan and will send you a communication with more information once we receive your LTO information from the board.
