OTIP donates $15,000 to Indspire to mark Canada’s 155th birthday

Friday, July 1 marks Canada’s 155th birthday. As we celebrate our beautiful country, we also continue to honour and express gratitude for the land on which we celebrate that has been home to Indigenous peoples for centuries.

At OTIP, we are dedicated to ongoing growth, education, and action toward reconciliation. For many, Canada Day is a reminder of the tragedies and inequality that Indigenous peoples of Canada have experienced. We want to support local organizations who are also dedicated to making positive change and leading with action.

That is why we are proud to donate $15,000 to Indspire in support of Canada’s goal of reconciliation and a better future.

With the support of its funding partners, Indspire disburses financial awards, delivers programs, and shares resources with the goal of increasing graduation rates for Indigenous students.

The work they do is important, and we want to ensure their work can continue to stretch without borders. This donation follows a previous $15,000 donation from OTIP to Indspire last year.

Our land acknowledgement

OTIP's head office is situated on traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and Neutral People. We acknowledge the enduring presence of the Indigenous people with whom we share this land today, their achievements and their contributions to our community. We offer this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation between Indigenous and non- Indigenous peoples of Canada.
