Your Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT) benefits plan is a key piece in ensuring your overall well-being. It helps you to take care of what’s important to you – your health and your family.
With this in mind, your ELHT and OTIP are pleased to introduce Your Benefits! Delivered to your inbox three times a year, each newsletter will feature stories on relevant benefits-related topics. Together, we know that understanding your benefits coverage is important, and we are committed to providing helpful information that will ensure you understand your plan.
Working together for sustainable benefits
The group benefits plan is the result of looking at everyone’s needs, and developing one comprehensive plan that best fits the membership as a whole. This means offering optimal benefits coverage to eligible members, and helping to protect you and your family’s access to meaningful and sustainable benefits coverage for years to come.
Your plan is administered by OTIP, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to you – Ontario education workers. OTIP will provide support every step of the way – when you enrol, submit a claim or when you have a question. Together, our goal is to ensure that this plan continues to meet the needs of members while at the same time remaining financially sustainable.
This is where you can help. Being a smart consumer is the number one way you can assist us in achieving a balanced benefits plan that provides long-term sustainability. Taking the time to do some comparison shopping before filling a prescription or purchasing items or services can help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses for items such as costs of treatments and services and dispensing fees. Also be aware of the paramedical providers’ marketing campaign of ‘use it or lose it’. Maximizing all of your benefits, if not medically necessary, can negatively impact the health and sustainability of your plan.
Enrolling thousands of plan members into our ELHT, while also delivering benefits at the same time, hasn’t been an easy task. Despite careful planning, the transition of member data has been a very challenging process. We know that there is still work to be done. Together with OTIP, we continue to work hard to address any and all remaining issues in a timely and effective manner.
To you, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you for your ongoing support and patience as you transitioned into our new plan. Please know that we value all of your feedback, and together with our partners, we will continue to work to improve our services.
