OTIP is proud to announce the launch of the OTIP Principal and Vice-Principal Awards, a new recognition program celebrating outstanding school leadership across Ontario’s publicly funded education system. 

Developed in partnership with the Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) and administered by OPC, the awards recognize principals and vice-principals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, care for their school communities, and a strong commitment to student and staff well-being. 

Nominations for the OTIP Principal and Vice-Principal Awards are open until March 31, 2026. 

Recognizing leadership across the education ecosystem 

This new award builds on OTIP’s long-standing commitment to recognizing excellence, care, and leadership across the education sector. Through its partnership with OPC, OTIP continues to strengthen relationships with education partners and leaders, reinforcing a shared commitment to thriving, inclusive school communities. 

The program follows a model similar to OTIP’s existing recognition initiatives, honouring individuals whose leadership makes a meaningful difference for students, staff, and the broader education ecosystem. 

OTIP’s education recognition award programs 

The OTIP Principal and Vice-Principal Awards join OTIP’s broader suite of recognition programs, including: 

• OTIP Teaching Awards, in partnership with the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF) 

• OTIP Education Worker Awards, recognizing the vital contributions of education support staff 

• Prix de bienveillance à l’école du RAEO, created in partnership with the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO) to honour Francophone educators 

Together, these programs reflect OTIP’s commitment to recognizing leadership, excellence, and kindness across Ontario’s education community.
