OTIP supports Indigenous education through Indspire
In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30), OTIP reaffirms our commitment to advancing education equity for Indigenous learners through our partnership with Indspire, a national Indigenous-led organization dedicated to supporting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students. Together, we are taking steps on the path toward reconciliation through two key initiatives:
1. National Gathering Travel Fund
Indspire’s National Gathering for Indigenous Education brings together educators and education professionals from across Canada—many from remote and rural communities—to share knowledge, strengthen skills, and create more inclusive classrooms.
Through the National Gathering Travel Fund, OTIP helps ensure that more educators can attend this important event. As one participant shared: “The National Gathering gave me resources to feel supported, and ideas for making my classroom inclusive in a fun, yet educational way.”

2. OTIP Bursary for Indigenous Students
Through the OTIP Bursary, administered by Indspire, we help First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students pursue post-secondary education—college, university, or trades—by easing the cost of tuition, books, and housing. This support allows students to focus on their studies and their future.
Our Commitment
This year, OTIP has proudly contributed $50,000 to Indspire in support of both the National Gathering Travel Fund and the OTIP Bursary for Indigenous Students. In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we have also contributed an additional $1,500 to Indspire and $1,000 to the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre.
Our partnership with Indspire is just one step in a much larger journey. True reconciliation requires listening, learning, and action from all of us—individuals, organizations, and communities alike. At OTIP, we are committed to continuing this work and supporting initiatives that help build a more equitable future for all learners.
