As a valued plan member, we are writing with an update regarding the ongoing status of the RTIP Contact Centre.  

On March 1, the RTIP Contact Centre, serviced by GreenShield and represented by Unifor Locals 240 and 673, went on strike. As a result, the RTIP Contact Centre is not handling RTIP member inquiries until further notice.   

At OTIP, we respect the collective bargaining process and are in close contact with our partners at GreenShield to actively monitor the development of this strike. 

We also understand the impact this has on you, our valued RTIP members, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are making our best efforts to support you, including encouraging the access of our available online and self-serve tools.

 

What this means for RTIP members 

There are several ways RTIP members can continue to access support while the RTIP Contact Centre remains unavailable: 

1. Starting Monday, March 25, RTIP members requiring phone support can call 1-833-318-2811, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

2. Submit your claims via the RTIP plan member site at rtip.otip.com or the ‘RTIP on the go’ mobile app. 

Over 90% of claims can be submitted through the RTIP plan member site or mobile app. Log in to view your coverage information, check on the status of a claim and access your premium statement. Claims reimbursements are not impacted by this strike. 


3. Email claims@rtip.otip.com if you have a question about your claims, coverage or RTIP plan member site access that requires additional support.

4. RTIP members requiring emergency travel support can contact OTIP Travel Assistance (CanAssistance) at canassistance.com/en/policyholder/claims or by phone at 1-800-936-6226.

5. Type ‘RTIP’ into OTIP’s online Help Centre search bar at otip.com/Help-Centre for answers to popular RTIP questions.

Your questions answered 

Why can’t OTIP access my claims and coverage information? 

Effective January 2022, OTIP partnered with GreenShield Canada to use their network to process claims. A dedicated RTIP Contact Centre was also developed to service your claims, coverage and administrative needs.   


How can I get my RTIP premium receipt? 

If you had health and/or dental insurance with RTIP in 2023, you will get a receipt for insurance premiums you paid in the previous tax year. As of March 25, a hard copy of your premium receipt will be mailed to you.
