The OTIP Bursary Program is turning 25!

Do you know a student who could use $1,500? Now open for applications, the OTIP Bursary Program, offered by the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP), is awarding 25 bursaries — the most since the program’s inception! If you or a close relative will be attending post-secondary school during the 2020-21 academic year, you have a chance to win $1,500 to help with school expenses.

As a part of Ontario’s education community, we at OTIP recognize the challenges faced by students today. The rising costs of tuition, housing, food and educational materials have increased the pressure on students and their families. We created the bursary to help offset these pressures and give back to the community. We are pleased that we have been able to grow it over the past quarter century.

We know that students are busy juggling between their studies, part-time jobs, family and friends. That is why our application process is simple and easy. Either the student can apply, or you, as an OTIP member, can apply on their behalf. No essay, no drama!

In addition to the OTIP Bursary Program, students should also check out some of these sources for funding, bursaries or loans.

  • OSAP: The Ontario Student Assistance Program offers a mix of grants and loans to thousands of students across the province each year

  • Financial aid: Universities and colleges offer bursaries, scholarships and funding programs through their financial aid offices. Be sure to check out how yours can assist you

  • Check out these websites to help you find and apply to scholarships: www.studentawards.com and www.scholarshipscanada.com

School is tough, but finding sources of funding shouldn’t be. Be sure to apply to the OTIP Bursary Program by June 15!
